Apple is now cited as the most popular brand of smartphones after Samsung. After successfully launching the iPhone 5S in the market, Apple Inc. has launched their new flagship smartphones named as 'iPhone 6' and 'iPhone 6 Plus' in the US market. The smartphones are going to be launched on 17 October, 2014 in the Indian market. Let us take a closer look at the specifications of iPhone 6.

Design and Display

As per the glimpse of the phone, it has a sleek design with curved edges and a rounded home button with the improved TouchID sensor. The device not only looks good but even feels good to hold. The smartphone measures 138.1 mm in height, 67 mm in width and 6.9 mm in thickness as its dimensions. It weighs around 129 grams. The front panel of phone is dominated by a LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen of 4.7-inches which provides an image resolution of 750x1334 pixels and a 326ppi of pixel density. It uses the multi-touch input method and features a sapphire crystal glass protection and oleophobic coating.

Hardware and Software

The iPhone 6 is powered by Dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) processor along with Apple A8 chipset and PowerVR GX6650, hexa-core graphics. On the storage part, it will give the option to choose from 16 / 64 / 128 GB internal memory accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. The device operates on the latest iOS 8 Operating System. It comes equipped with accelerometer, proximity, gyro, barometer and compass sensors for effective operations.

Telephony and Messaging

The device operates on 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz), 3G (HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) and 4G (LTE 700 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600 MHz) network frequencies. For messaging, the device supports iMessage, SMS, MMS, Email and Push Email. It also features T9 dictionary and predictive text input to ease in typing.

Camera

The iPhone 6 has got a rear camera of 8 MP which provides a resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. It comes loaded with features like digital zoom, dual LED flash, auto-focus, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization, panorama, HDR, geo-tagging, full HD video and image recording. The phone also supports a 1.2 MP front-facing camera with a resolution power of 1280x1024 pixels.

Entertainment

For entertainment, the device features a music player, image viewer / editor, video recorder, video player / editor, games, FM radio, maps, Twitter and Facebook integration, TV-out, ringtones. Plus availability of loudspeaker and 3.5 mm stereo headphone mini jack further enhances its capabilities. One can also record 1080p at 60 fps and 720p at 240fps resolution videos on to the device.

Connectivity

The connectivity and networking options loaded in the phone includes NFC, GPRS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot, EDGE, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP and microUSB v2.0. It also features GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS in order to support navigation.

Other Features

Other features include active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, air drop file sharing, Siri natural language commands and dictation, iCloud cloud service, iCloud keychain, iBooks PDF reader and a lot more.

iPhone is available in Space Gray, Silver and Gold shades. The device has been priced according to its internal memory variants that is $199 for the 16 GB variant, $299 for the 64 GB and $399 for the 128 GB variant.
