The Canadian manufacturers, BlackBerry is best known for the range of QWERTY keypad smartphones. It has both high-end and budget smartphones in its kitty. The BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981 is a Mini-SIM smartphone that combines the feature of QWERTY keypad and touchscreen together. It was released in December 2011.

Display and Dimensions

The Porsche Design P9981 is designed by using a stainless steel frame and leather touch back panel. The front panel of the handset has a 2.8-inches TFT capacitive touchscreen of 640x480 pixels resolution, below which there's a qwerty keypad and 4 keys. The dimensions of the device are measured as 115x67x11.3mm and it weighs around 155 grams.

Camera and Memory

To capture your precious moments, it comes equipped with a 5MP rear camera which clicks at a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. It also comes loaded with some features like LED flash, geo-tagging, scene modes, face detection and image stabilization. It allows you to capture as well as play 720 p videos. But it disappoint its users in the terms of front-facing camera. In terms of storage, the device supports 8GB of internal memory and it also supports a microSD card of up to 32GB for the expansion of storage level.

Processor and OS

At the heart, the phone has a 1.2GHz processor, Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon chipset and Adreno 205. Running the device is a BlackBerry OS 7.0 which is coupled with a 768MB RAM. Together they provides a smooth app performance and do multiple things without any delay.

Connectivity and Battery

For the user connectivity, Porsche Design P9981 offers a GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi along with a bluetooth, USB port and 3.5mm jack to assist in data sharing. It also includes NFC and GPS for the navigation of directions. It has a Li-Ion 1230mAh battery which is rated for up to 348 hours of standby time and up to 5 hours 30 minutes of talktime.

Multimedia

The device allows you to send SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM to your loved ones. It has audio system for the music buff and productive tools like document viewer, voice memo/dial, organizer and predictive text input are also present on the phone.
