CAT S40 is the company's most rugged smartphone to date. It was announced in July, 2015 and falls under the category of mid-range smartphones. It has been followed by those users who need more durable hardware for the outdoors. It is specifically designed for those who work in tough conditions and lead an active life. It is IP68 certified which means that it can stay in 6 feet of water for up to an hour and is dust resistant. It also has Military Standard 810G certification, signifying it has shock and drop-proof capabilities which makes it unbreakable even after throwing from 6 feets of height. Let's have a quick look at the review of this smartphone.

Display and Dimensions

It exhibits a 4.7 inch Super bright IPS, qHD multi-touch display which is able to record a resolution of 960x540 pixels. It has a pixel density of 234ppi. It is covered with latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. This handset's display not only has Glove-on technology but also wet finger-tracking technology so you don't have to dry off your hands to use it. It is designed by using a bar format which has got a height of 144.9mm, a width of 74.1mm and a thickness of 12.5mm and holds a weight of 185 grams. It come loaded with ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, compass sensor and accelerometer sensor.

Processor and Operating System

The rugged smartphone boasts a 1.1Ghz quad-core processor and Qualcomm MSM8909 chipset which is paired with 1GB RAM. The operating system used in the device is Android v5.1 Lollipop which is today's latest form of Android.

Camera and Storage

The S40 houses an 8MP auto-focus rear camera with 1080p/60fps capture, as well as a basic 2MP secondary camera. The rear shooter supports a resolution of 3264x2448 pixels whereas 1600x1200 pixels resolution is supported by the front one. It comes loaded with 16GB internal memory and 64GB of microSD card is also fixed for further expansion of internal storage.

Connectivity and Battery

It comes with a standard array of wireless connectivity features, including 3G and 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, microUSB 2.0, USB-OTG, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi. It does pack a non removable Lithium Ion 3000mAh battery which promises a talktime of 18 hours and standby time of 39 hours.
