Gionee P2S is the successor of P2 that has been made available in the markets from May, 2014. Its box contents includes a handset, battery, charger, earphone, USB cable, user manual and warranty card.

Design and Display

The phone has got slim and curvy body designed in a bar format. The company has affixed the power button and volume button on the right side, micro USB at the bottom and audio jack on the top of the phone. It comes with a height of 126 mm, a width of 64 mm and a thickness of 9.3 mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 124 grams. Its front is dominated by a 4.0 inches, WVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480x800 pixels.

Hardware and Software

Powering Gionee P2S has the 1.3 GHz Dual Core Cortex A7 processor accompanied by 512 MB RAM, ensuring a snappy performance. On board storage stands at 4 GB which can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD slot. The phone operates on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System and ARM Mali 400 GPU is responsible for its graphics quality. There are four sensors- Motion, Proximity, Compass and Gesture that help in effective operations.

Telephony and Messaging

P2S operates on 2G ( GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz ) and 3G ( HSDPA 900 / 2100 MHz ) frequencies. It is the Dual SIM ( GSM + GSM ) smartphone with the dual stand-by support, that means you can remain active on two networks at the same time. User can use the T9 dictionary and Predictive text input feature to do SMS, MMS, Email and IM.

Camera

There are two cameras - 5 MP camera at the back and a VGA camera at the front. The rear camera comes with a number of options like zoom, flash, touch focus, face detection, panorama, geo- tagging, 99 continuous shots, face beauty, eraser, smile shot, gesture shot and HD video recording.

Entertainment

The phone comes loaded with the MP3 music player and MP4 video player for entertainment. Along with that user can record videos, view images, set ringtones for the callers and can play games. The phone also avails the inbuilt applications like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube. Plus availability of 3.5 mm jack and 3D speakers powered by DTS further increases its capabilities.

Connectivity and Battery

The device ranks good in terms of connectivity options which includes GPRS, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, EDGE, Bluetooth, USB, Gionee Xender, OTA ( Over-the-air transmission ) and Handsfree. It also features GPS with A-GPS support to help in navigation. The phone packs a Li-ion battery of 1600 mAh.
