Design

HTC has released the Butterfly S, a premium smartphone in July, 2013. The box packs a handset, charger, ear phone, user manual and a USB cable. The details of this phone are given below.

Design and Display

The Butterfly S is crafted using high quality materials in order to provide durability and reliability to the users. It comes with a height of 144.5mm, width of 70.5mm and a thickness of 10.6mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 160 grams. The overall look of phone is impressive with a nice wide 5.0-inches super LCD3 capacitive display with 1080x1920 resolution and a 441ppi pixel density. It has the capacity to display 16M colors and is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware and Software

The device runs on the Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean which can be upgraded to v4.4.2 KitKat operating system. Powering the Butterfly S is a Quad-core 1.9GHz Krait 300 processor with a Adreno 320 GPU. The phone has a RAM of 2GB and an internal memory of 16GB which can be expanded further up to 64GB via micro SD card.

Telephony and Messaging

The HTC Butterfly S supports all versions of 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) along with Asian versions of 3G (HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100) and 4G (LTE 900/1800/2100/2600) frequencies. One can store an unlimited number of contacts to the phonebook. There is a messaging and email facility available for the device which includes SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email and Push Email. It also features predictive text input which helps in texting.

Camera

The 4MP main camera comes with a LED flash, auto-focus, 1/3'' sensor size, 2µm pixel size, simultaneous HD video and image recording, HDR, face and smile detection, Geo-tagging, and takes 2688x1520 resolution pictures. The front facing camera has a 2.1MP count, which enables you to video calling.

Multimedia

The Butterfly S scores well in the multimedia department. The dual stereo speakers with Beats audio and inbuilt amps provides amazing sound. The video player has the ability to play HD videos which looks quite pleasant on the large LCD display. One can record 1080p full HD videos on to the device.

Connectivity and Apps

The connectivity attributes of the Butterfly S includes 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB port, NFC and Infra red port. It also features A-GPS support which helps in navigation. The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Google apps like Google search, maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google talk, calender, organizer, document viewer, photo viewer and editor.

Battery

The phone comes equipped with an embedded rechargeable Li-Po 3200 mAh battery which offers an talk-time up to 29 hours on 2G and up to 25 hours on 3G along with a stand by up to 544 hours on 2G and up to 659 hours on 3G network. Its long lasting stamina enables you to do multitasks.
