Huawei Ascend G510 is another affordable phone by one of the largest communication company in the world.

Huawei Ascend G510 Design and Build Quality

The design of the phone does not impress us much. It has a large display screen of 4.5 inch which is the largest in its segment. The dimensions of the phone are 134 x 67 x 9.9 mm and the phone weighs 150 grams which quite comfortable. The screen of the phone is scratch resistant and the grip does not slip. Battery talk time is only 6 hour which we fell is a little less for a powerful feature packed phone.

User Interface and Comfort to Use Huawei Ascend G510

The phone runs on Jellybean Android software with the display of 854x480 pixels. The text and icon display is quite sharp which you would expect from Huawei but the screen pixel ration disappoints us a little. Display is good enough to read and watch videos. Navigation using the Huawei emotion UI is very cumbersome because it does not have a separate app tray but all your apps are on one screen. The keyboard is quite decent and the phone does not have any lag in rotation. The phone has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm ARM Cortex-A5, Dual Core which lends a good speed to its operations.

Telephony and Phonebook

The phone supports dual SIM operation in both 3G and 2G. Call volume is crisp and clear. The phone has an internal memory of 4GB with 512 MB of RAM which gives enough space to store all your contacts and details.

Messaging and Emails

The phone has SMS, MMS and push email facilities that is further aided by an option of QWERTY keypad and T9 Dictionary.

Huawei Ascend G510 Gallery, Photo Viewer and Video Player

The video player of the phone supports MP4/H.263/H.264 formats. The gallery contains an organizer, document viewer, photo editor and viewer and a voice memo and dial. Nine screens are available on the device so you can place the apps the way you want.

The phone has a MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player which play music seamlessly and smoothly. The music is supported by Dolby DTS which makes its music quite incredible. You can use the 3.5 mm jack to listen through headphones. FM radio is good.

The phone as two cameras: one in rear and one at front. The front camera is 5MP with flash, Auto focus and digital zoom. The photo resolution is 2592x1944 pixels. The front camera is a meagre 0.3MP and is suitable for voice calling and video chats. The camera struggles a little in low light. Camera supports geo-tagging.

Video can be recorded from both the cameras and the recording does not have the same quality as that of photos.

The phone gives you all the options that you can think of in this one area. Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPRS, Edge and USB connectivity means that you are never out of touch and can log in at any time and share with your friend.

The phone’s organizer has standard features like clock, alarm, document viewer, to do and SNS integration. Utility tools can be downloaded from the Android market. The phone supports java so that you can play all your favourite games.

Web Browser and Applications

The phone comes preloaded with applications like Google Apps, Facebook, Twitter, Weather Clock, Huawei Music, and Huawei Widget which makes browsing the net very easy. However, even with full Wi-Fi speed the processor’s response to the browser is comparatively slow. The browser app remains at the bottom of all screens.

Phone supports A-GPS and Google maps can be activated by downloading from the Android Market and used easily.

The phone is priced at INR 10990 (approx., may vary) which is good when compared to other phones with similar features and specifications.

We would give the phone a 4.5 starts out of 5 for its features but a slow processor.
