The Gionee has launched a new smartphone called 'IUNI U2' in a collaboration with the IUNI in the Chinese market. It is speculated to be available in the Indian market soon. It is a solid phone with an aluminum body and resembles the HTC phones in terms of looks. The IUNI U2 comes with a height of 136.9 mm, width of 65 mm and a thickness of 10.2 mm along with a weight of 145 grams. The IUNI U2 packs a non-removable Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery to ensure better usage time. The phone is designed using bar format which makes it easy to handle and carry.

User Interface and Comfort to Use

The IUNI U2 features a wide viewing angle, LTPS sharp screen of 4.7-inches which provides a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a 469 ppi of pixel density. Powering the device is a Quad-core, 2.2 GHz processor with a Qualcomm Xiaolong 800 chip-set and Adreno 330 GPU. It runs on Android v4.3 OS. The smartphone comes in two variants: one with a RAM of 2 GB and an internal storage of 16 GB and other with a RAM of 3 GB and an internal storage of 32 GB. There is no hard key present on the phone, it features feather touch soft icons which are quite responsive.

Telephony and Messaging

The device supports 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (WCDMA 900/2100 MHz) frequencies. The phonebook has a capacity to store an unlimited number of contacts. SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email and Push Mail are some of the messaging and email facilities available for the IUNI U2. The phone also comes with the option of predictive text input in order to facilitate typing.

Camera and Image Quality

The IUNI U2 has an excellent primary camera of 16 MP which provides a photo resolution of 5312x2980 pixels. It is also featured with a LED flash, auto-focus and digital zoom. The secondary camera has a good 4 MP count which enables you for video calling. One can record 1080p full HD videos on to the device.

Connectivity Options

The connectivity attributes of the device includes 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, micro USB port and hands-free connectivity. It also offers A-GPS support in order to facilitate the navigation. The device has an added convenience of 3.5 mm audio jack.

The smartphone is available in three metallic color options: Bingfeng Silver, Lava Grey and Aurora Green.

Value for Money

The variant with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage is priced around Rs. 16,000 (approx) and the other variant with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 19,000 (approx) may vary.
