Overview of Micromax A80 Superfone Infinity

Micromax A80 is actually a Superfone with the number of features that have been packed in the phone. It surely gives a touch competition to every other big brand name in mobiles

Micromax A80 Superfone Infinity Design and Build Quality

The phone has a very comfortable design with a 3.7-inch touch screen. The phones dimensions are 64x129.5x13.5 mm and the phone weighs 178.5 grams which is a bit on the heavy side but the phone carries a 2500 mAH battery which lasts for a good seven hours for talk time (dual SIM operations). The phone has curved corners and made of high quality plastic which does not scratch easily. The screen is not scratch resistant and you have to be comfortable in using it.

User Interface and Comfort to Use Micromax A80 Superfone Infinity

The phone has a 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen, which responds very well to touch inputs. The phone does not have the capability of multi touch input. The home, back, search and menu button is on the bottom of the screen. The USB and power button are on the top and volume buttons are on the side. Camera and flash are at the back of the screen. The phone has an 800 MHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The memory can be expanded to 32 GB. The phone also has Aisha whose response is very good and prompt when you ask simple questions. The switching between the screens is not as smooth as the high-end phones but still very fast. The apps easily open with a simple tap. The phone has five customizable screens.

Telephony and Phonebook

The phone supports 2G Dual SIM and dual standby options. Switching between the SIMs is very easy. The call quality of the phone is above par and you will enjoy good call quality even at low signal strength. Voice calling with 3G signals is pretty smooth and good quality. The phonebook capacity is almost limitless and voice-dialling recognition is very smooth and fast. Picture ID and Ring ID can be used to identify a caller. The phone suppresses background noise and amplifies user voice a bit that makes the speech very clear.

Messaging and Emails

The phone supports SMS, MMS, Email (IMAP, POP3, SMTP), and Social networking services. Threaded view is supported so that you can read the conversation easier. The keyboard is very easy to use (both T9 and QWERTY mode).

Gallery, Photo Viewer and Video Player

The phone has a lot of space to store your favourite videos, pictures, songs and other documents. The photo viewer can be directly accessed from the screen and from the camera. Zoom and basic editing features are available on it. The video player of the phone supports 3GP and MP4 formats. The video player of the phone plays videos without any lags or delays.

Music Player and FM Radio

Micromax A80 has a very powerful music player, which plays mp3 songs. FM player is also good. The audio quality of the phone is very good and the voice does not crackle even at high volume.

The phone has a 5MP back camera, which comes with features like Night Mode, 4x Zoom, Flash Light, and Multi-shot Mode. Day light pictures come out good but are not very sharp. The night mode pictures are a bit out of focus. The .3MP camera in the front of the phone is a very basic camera to be used for video and Skype calling.

Video Camera and Video Quality

Video recording is available on the phone with 720p and 480p playback facilities. The playback video quality of recorded videos is good and the big screen makes it a treat to watch them.

The phone supports all the modern connectivity options including 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB. Bluetooth connection is very fast.

The phone has gravity sensor and light sensor. Other important utility tools in the phone are World Clock, Multiple Alarms, Calendar, Calculator, Video Streaming, Intuitive Text Input, Call Groups, Swap Call, Swype, Auto Rotate, Audio Recorder, Auto Power On or Off , Document viewer, Notes, To do lists and Voice Input

Web Browser and Applications

The phone comes preloaded with Chrome mini and WAP browser. Various applications on the phone include Facebook, Aisha, Whatsapp, TOI, Weather widget, M! Bud, Google Play, Google search, and Gmail

Google Maps and GPS

The phone supports GPS and has inbuilt Google maps application to help you find the way. The GPS is fast if your position is static but takes some time to latch if the position is moving.

Value for Money

Priced at approximately INR 8500 (approx., may vary) in the Indian market the phone is place quite comfortably amongst its competitors.
