Micromax Informatics Limited is an Indian consumer electronics company which was founded in the year 1999. Now, it has become the second largest mobile brand in India and tenth largest mobile manufacturer in the world. The Micromax Bolt A46 is its one of the popular smartphones that was launched in February, 2014. Its box contents includes a handset, battery, charger, headset, USB cable, user manual and warranty card.

Design and Display

Micromax Bolt A46 has been carved in bar shape with curved edges. The front panel has a screen and three soft touch keys beneath it, while the rear panel has a camera lens and company's logo embossed below it. The overall look of the phone is impressive with a nice wide 4 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen that provide a resolution of 480x800 pixels.

Hardware and Software

Bolt A46 is powered by 1.2 GHz processor based on MediaTek MTK 6572 chipset which ensures snappy performance. This has been accompanied by 256 MB RAM and Mali-400 MP1 Graphics processor. The phone has the goodness of Android v4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System. Talking about its memory, the device carries 512 MB of on-board storage, of which 129 MB is available to the user and 121.5 MB can be used for installation of applications. This can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card.

Telephony and Messaging

The device is compatible with the Dual SIM feature and works on the 2G GSM 900 / 1800 MHz network frequencies. SMS, MMS, Email and IM are some of the facilities available on the messaging front.

Camera

For photography, it carries a 2 MP rear camera which takes pictures at a resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. Due to the inbuilt LED Flash feature, it takes decent pictures in normal as well as in low light conditions. The camera can be easily converted into a video recorder with just a click. For video chat and self portrait shots, Micromax has added a 0.3 MP front camera as well.

Entertainment

For the listening pleasure, the device has a music player and FM radio. The reception of FM is satisfactory and the music player supports audio formats like mp3, wav, aac, midi and amr. Additionally, the device also supports 3gp, mp4 and wmv in video formats. The 3.5 mm audio jack further lets you to connect earphones of your choice with the handset. On the apps front, the phone is armed with M! Live app which helps to download various audios, videos, applications, news, games etc. Other than this, you can enjoy its in-built Bubble x slice and Zombies smasher games in your leisure time.

Connectivity and Battery

The phone gives you the option of using GPRS or EDGE . Or you can choose the in-built Wi-Fi system that allows you to take the advantage of home or public Wi-Fi internet connections. The Bluetooth and microUSB support further gives you the power to share files among devices. The stand alone feature of this phone is its inbuilt GPS chip  which lets you navigate through any unknown place. It comes fueled with a Li-ion battery of 1500 mAh which claims a stand-by time of 180 hours and talktime of 4.5 hours.
