Nokia 6300 comes in a decent black & silver combination. Everything that is silver is made of steel. Black areas are made of glossy plastic material. The display and the functional part of the keypad are located inside a black frame that stands out over the surrounding surface a little. It comes with tri band technology which works over GSM 900, GSM 1800 & GSM 1900 which will switch between network bands automatically providing network coverage over the majority of the US & Europe.
The phone comes with a Web browser which can view XHTML web sites for the user to access when they are away from the office. The mobile phone comes with a push to talk call feature which allows the user to have a call with other contacts by using a push to talk key to talk to others & then on releasing the key the user can hear their contacts talking back.
The Nokia 6300 comes with a handsfree speaker feature which allows the user to take a call over the speaker system which leaves the user handsfree to get on with their work. The camera is 2 megapixels with an 8x digital zoom and with a video recording function. Enough for casual photography, but not brilliant. There's a music player and an FM radio.
A standard Nokia headset is included in the sales package and support for a Bluetooth stereo headset is included. Memory for storing music is limited, with just 7.8 Mbytes of user memory, however you can expand the memory to a maximum of 2 Gbytes by buying a microSD card, which will give you as much memory as an iPod Nano. The provided headset uses a 2.5mm jack rather than a 3.5mm one. This is Nokia's biggest failing as far as user ergonomics go.
Sound quality from the provided headset is just OK and its in-ear buds won't suit everyone. A 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter is far too unwieldy to contemplate, so stereo Bluetooth headphones may be an attractive option. But you are stuck with the provided headset if you want to use the built in FM radio, as the headset houses the antenna. Both Bluetooth and USB connectivity are supported, and the phone has GPRS and EDGE for fast data downloads. Battery life is below average, which is often the case with superslim phones. The fully charged battery will provide up to 264 hours of standby battery time & up to 3.5 hours of talk time.
