Stylish & Feature Rich Windows Mobile

The S710 is the best-looking Windows smart phone with mirrored metal surround that circles the front of the phone contrasts perfectly with the black styling of the rest of the handset and the rubberised plastic on the rear makes it comfortable to grip in your hand. As a Windows Mobile Smartphone the S710 is reasonably small and neat at 101mm tall x 50mm wide x 17.7mm thick, and 120g. This means it fits tidily in a pocket and is more comfortable to hold to the ear for voice calling than something like the larger P4350.

HTC S710 has an impressive feature set for a phone that measures just 4 x 2 x 0.73 inches: Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi 802.11b/g, long battery life, a 2 megapixel camera and the full Windows Mobile set of smart goodies such as mobile versions of Internet Explorer, MS Office, Outlook with Direct Push, Windows Media Player and Windows Live. The phone is one of the first on the market running the new Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system. HTC is Microsoft's major handset partner, so naturally it is the first supplier offering Windows Mobile 6 - Microsoft's latest version of its smartphone and PDA platform.

The HTC S710 is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP 850 processor running at 200MHz. It has 128MB of ROM and 64MB of RAM. After a hard reset we were left with 60MB of available storage capacity. This can be augmented with a microSD card via the slot on the right edge of the casing, where it is protected by a rubber cover. HTC has done a great deal with regards to design and build quality, making this one of the most pleasing devices. Connectivity is a mixed bag, as the S710 is a quad-band with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but no 3G, so data is transferred over relatively slow GPRS when you're not covered by Wi-Fi. Overall, it is a stylish mobile phone with loads of features at an affordable price.
