Nokia N96
Maxabout Review
Superb N95 Sequel
Saturday, March 15, 2008
The Nokia N96 combines the looks and design of the Nokia N80 and Nokia N95. The Nokia N96 got its face from the Nokia N80 while its dual slider function it got from the Nokia N95. This mobile phone is heavier and larger than the Nokia N95 which may be a good thing for some because it ha a more solid feel to it when held.
It boasts a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, flash and video light. It allows DVD-like quality video capture at 30 frames per second. Nokia Video Center offers one place to discover and access a variety of mobile content ranging from movie trailers and comedy to news from world-leading content brands such as YouTube, Reuters, and Sony Pictures.
The catalogue of internet video feeds is continually expanded with more regional and country specific content. One great improvement of the Nokia N96 over the previous N95 version is that it has a 16GB of internal memory PLUS an expandable microSD slot for upto 24GB of total memory!
That was the main drawback of previous N95 standard and 8GB model; you either have to choose whether you want a fixed internal memory or a removable one. With the Nokia N96, you won’t have to choose, you have the best of both worlds. Another added feature is an integrated DVB-H receiver so you can watch Live TV.
Nokia N96 has the the dual-sliding function like N95 it is also sporting a pair of gaming keys to the multimedia cluster on extra slide panel that can be used for N-Gage games. One of the another enchanting feature about Nokia N96 is its built-in GPS receiver that works with the new Nokia Maps 2.0, which come preloaded on the N96.
The Nokia’s updated Share Online function enables the N96 to automatically geo tag your photos and upload them to Flickr. The N96 makes it easy to share your media with friends via a TV-Out cable and UPnP support.
