Sony Ericsson W995

Sony Ericsson W995 is a compact slide phone, with a well spaced keypad, and very large 256,000 colour QVGA screen, measuring 2.6 inches point to point. The spec sheet for this phone is formidable, and Sony Ericsson has done a great job in getting all these features squeezed in to such a compact handset. The W995 measures in at 97mm x 49mm x 15mm and weighs in at a very light 113g.
On the outside it sports a thin slider design in progressive black, cosmic silver, or energetic red. Its front face is dominated by a 2.6-inch display, which should lend itself well to watching everything from music videos to movies. You'll also find a desk stand and stereo speakers. This time the company has included the much needed 3.5mm headset jack.
Set the mobile phone on its built-in stand and watch videos with your friends while you pump up the volume on the powerful built-in stereo speakers. The Sony-Ericsson W995 phone comes complete with excellent sound for both movies and your favourite tracks. Clear Stereo, Clear Bass and the included HPM-77 premium headphones make music on the move feel like you’re sitting in a recording studio listening to your favourite band live! For the next level of clear audio experience, in selected markets the Sony-Ericsson HPM-88 noise cancelling headset will replace the Sony-Ericsson HPM-77.
The W995 runs the latest version of the very easy to use Walkman media player, Walkman 4.0. Playback is available for most popular music formats, including the ever present MP3 and AAC. There are various themes and skins available for the music player, and you can also have the album art showing when tracks are playing. As you would expect, tracks can be sorted via artist, album, genre and composer, and you can create your own playlists to match your mood on the device. Shake control is included; this allows you to mix up all your tracks for a huge ‘shuffle’, or skip to the next song in the list by a simple ‘flick of the wrist’ when holding the phone.
The 8.1-megapixel camera is straight out of a Cyber-shot line. It has a 16x digital zoom, auto-focus, face detection, a flash, image stabilization, Sony's PictBridge, a video recorder, and picture blogging. Finishing out the feature set are stereo Bluetooth, assisted-GPS with support for Google Maps, Wi-Fi, messaging and e-mail, a voice recorder, an FM radio, phone-as-modem capability, USB mass storage, PC syncing, instant messaging, organizer applications, a speakerphone, gaming, and direct access to YouTube.
