Mobile Phone Sales Decline

Though worldwide sales of mobile phones down slope in the third quarter of year 2012 but smartphones sales increased 46.9 percent. These smartphone sales increased to 169.2 million units in the third quarter and beneficiaries of that the demand increased of Apple and Samsung smartphone. These two firms together controlled 46.5 percent in the smartphone market.

Android remains the prevailing OS with a 72.4 percent market share and an increase from the 52.5 percent reported during the same period last year and Apple iOS fell from 15 percent to 13.9 percent, RIM BlackBerry fell from 11 percent to 5.3 percent and the Samsung increased from 2.2 percent to 3 percent and also the Microsoft's Windows Phone increased from 1.5 percent to 2.4 percent market share.
