Sony Xperia M2 Aqua Waterproof Smartphone Officially Announced

Sony Mobile has announced a new waterproof version of its popular Xperia series smartphone Xperia M2 dubbed as 'Xperia M2 Aqua'. It is expected to be launch in September, 2014 in the selected markets of Asia pacific, Latin America and Europe. Like the Xperia M2, it will not support a dual SIM compatibility.

Talking about the specifications, this mid-range device has a 4.8-inch qHD capacitive touch screen display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels. The phone weighs at 149 grams and it has a thickness of 8.6mm. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which provides more polished design and improved performance. It comes powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB RAM.
 
For the shutterbugs, this phone comes equipped with a good 8MP rear camera with LED flash, Exmor RS sensor and it is capable of recording full HD videos. For the front shots, it packs a 1.1MP camera on the front panel. In the terms of storage, it sports an internal memory of 8GB which can be expanded in need up to 32GB via microSD card.

The phone supports 3.5mm jack to connect with other devices and it also has FM Radio  with RDS. Connectivity features of the phone includes Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G support. It draws a backup from 2330mAh battery. The main attraction of this new version of M2 is its water and dust proof capability.

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua comes in three color options like Black, Purple and White. Regarding the price and availability there is no information yet.
