Verizon Sells 6.8 Million Smartphones in 3rd Quarter 2012

Verizon Wireless released its earnings for the third quarter of the year 2012. This company has reported a 7.5 percent increase in revenues, along with 1.8 million net customer additions and also more than 95.9 million total customers. Subscriber growth reached its highest point in 4 years, leading to Verizon having 90.4 million postpaid subscribers. Verizon came in the form of customers flocking to purchase new 4G LTE-capable phones and more than the 6.8 percent of postpaid subscribers chose to upgrade the phone in the 3rd quarter, leading to 6.8 million Smartphone sales. It sold 3.4 million Android devices and 3.1 million iPhone in the quarter. The carrier noted that Twenty one percent of iPhone sales were LTE, meaning it sold more than 651,000 units of the iPhone 5.
