Overview

Nokia E7 hits the market with a bang

Overview of Nokia E7

The new Nokia E7 helps you keep your work-life balance as it enables you to connect with your office, meetings on the go. It’s a unique Smartphone dressed in aluminium casing, with QWERTY keyboard and a 4 inches capacitive display touch screen. The display is similar to that of iPhone 4’s retina display. It comes fully equipped with Business applications powered by Microsoft that allow you to perform your office work on the go. Nokia E7 is backed by Symbian Operating system. Its 8 megapixel camera with digital zoom just rocks with amazing output. It offers a maximum 5 hours of 3G talk time. It features an internal memory of 16 GB and you can store up to 1000 messages at a time which gives it a competitive edge. However it has been criticized for not having an external memory slot and also for the fact that the battery cannot be removed.

Design and Build Quality of Nokia E7

The Nokia E7 is the business-focused version of the N8 that is built on a 4 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. The glass on the touchscreen is a Corning Gorilla Glass screen that helps protect the device from scratches. The screen slides upwards when you pull out the keyboard for enhanced viewing purposes.

User Interface and Comfort to use Nokia E7

Running on Symbian^3, the Nokia E7 is upgradable to Nokia Belle OS. The size of the phone is easy to grip in your hand. The device measures 13.6 mm thick, which is slim for a form factor that has a keyboard. It is also comfortable to type with the keyboard pulled out for texting and emails.

Music Player and FM radio

The media player can support a range of music and video formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, MPED-4, and h.264. Because there is no expansion slot, you will want to watch your content use on the device has a 16GB internal space. Audio on the E7 is rich in quality that enables a good music listening experience.

Still camera and Image Quality

The 8MP camera on the E7 has quality that is impressively clear. There are also many editing tools built into the software such as exposure settings, face detection, ISO, White-balance, self-timer, and more. You can also edit your photos and videos after taking an image.

Video Camera and Video Quality

Video can also be recorded on a 720p HD video that is equally clear.

Nokia E7 Connectivity Options

With the E7, you can log on to several different network options. In the 2G network, there is GSM 850, 900 1800, and 1900 bands available. On the 3G network, you can have the HSDPA 850, 900, 1700, and 1900 bands.

Organizer and Other Utility Tools

As a business-focused phone, the E7 has several applications that are valuable for work tools. It supports multiple e-mail accounts that include Exchange Active Sync, POP#/IMAP, and Lotus Notes. There are also preloaded apps such as F-Secure Anti-Theft, and Quick office suite. Psiloc World Traveller is a program that manages trips and provides travel tools like flight tracker, is also included on the E7.

Google Maps and GPS

Nokia uses its Ovi Maps to guide you through your everyday life. Their mapping application has an advantage over Google Maps by adding turn-by-turn navigation for 80 count tires while you're offline. This comes at no cost to you. You can also get tips on where to eat and stay with the Lonely Planet and Via Michelin guides that are built -in features.

Value for Money

With a price tag of ?20755 (approx., may vary), the E7 is a pricey device that will derail potential customers based on this. There are business-focused devices with a QWERTY keyboard that you can purchase for less.

Verdict

The hardware on the Nokia E7 has the impression of a high quality device. The Symbian OS is currently going through tough times in the smartphone world, being dominated by Android and iOS. The lack of expandable memory and high price are certainly the biggest problems with the device. Overall, you can find a more affordable device that will have better features.
