Philips S398 is a KitKat based smartphone announced in December, 2014. It is the successor to the Philips S388 which was launched in August, 2014. The smartphone was first launched in Vietnam and later came to Indian market with a reasonable price tag. It comes with dual SIM functionality and is available in single shade. Let's have a discussion on the features and specifications of this device.

Display and Dimensions

It boasts a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels translating to a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. It is a multi- touch device which has 16 million color support. Coming to the measurements of the handset, it has got a height of 143.7mm, a width of 71.1mm and a thickness of 9.65mm. It weighs around 170 grams. It features some sensors including accelerometer sensor, ambient light sensor and compass sensor.

Processor and Operating System

Under its hood, it is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad core processor and MediaTek MT6582M chipset. It is coupled with 1GB RAM which means you have a full freedom to enjoy games while running different applications, documents or browsers in the background. It works on Android v4.4 KitKat operating system.

Camera and Storage

The handset flaunts an 8 mega- pixel primary camera at its back with LED flash for better low light photoshoot and a 2 mega- pixel front snapper for video conferencing and selfies. There is 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded externally by another 32GB with the help of a memory card slot.

Connectivity and Battery

As far as connectivity is concerned, it comes loaded with features which includes 3G, A- GPS, Bluetooth, GPS, USB, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and handsfree connectivity. It is being offered with a Li-ion 2040 mAh which claims to offer up to 8 hours of talktime over 2G and same talktime on 3G network.
