Overview

Samsung Wave M S7250 Comes With Dozens of Smart Features

Overview of Samsung Wave M S7250

The wave that the Samsung Wave M S7250 is made to generate can be visualized to be having high crests and low troughs, i.e. a massive wave. This phone, also called Samsung Wave725, runs on version 2.0 of the Bada operating system. Its processor works to a high of 832 MHz. This, combined with the phone’s internal storage of 150 MB, makes the Wave M S7250 deserve the word ‘computer’ in its description. To spruce up the storage, there is an included 2 GB microSD card with a provision to use a memory card of up to 32 GB. Its display is a TFT capacitive touchscreen that measures 3.65 inches and is 320 x 480 pixels. Functioning hand-in-hand with this display is an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, a proximity sensor for auto turn-off and TouchWiz UI. Those who like listening to music and watching videos on portable devices will value this phone also. It has not only an MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player but also an MP4/DivX/H.263/H.264 player. These players provide a chance for the owner to keep themselves entertained. Sound output from the M S7250 is through a 3.5 mm jack, and is enforced with a Digital Natural Sound Engine. There is also a stereo FM radio with RDS to ensure that one is connected to one’s local stations. The Samsung Wave M S7250 comes with dozens of other features, some of which are: an image editor, an organizer, Samsung ChatON, email support, IM support, NFC support and A-GPS support.

Samsung Wave M S7250 Design and Build Quality

Made out of a plastic body, the back cover of the Samsung Wave M S7250 is brushed as if there was a metallic finish. It still lacks grip and feels slippery. The device is light and chubby with a tapered back. The build quality is middle of the road.

User Interface and Comfort to Use Samsung Wave M S7250

TouchWiz UI sits over the Bada 2.0 operating system. You get nice notifications on the lock screen and a dedicated home screen for widgets with transparent backgrounds. These are all available by scrolling up and down, instead of swiping. TouchWiz also has been enhanced to show redrawn icons and folders. Together, you get a nice interface that is both practical and simple to operate.

Messaging and Emails

The Wave M has support for threaded view text messages and multimedia messages. Emails are also easy to set up to send/receive your work and personal messages. ChatON messaging and Social Hub also allows you to place all messaging and social networking in one place.

Gallery, Photo Viewer and Video Player

It is a disappointment that the device only plays MPEG-4 videos files up to 640x480. The photo gallery also lacks a photo editor.

Samsung Wave M S7250 Music Player and FM Radio

The music player will support artists, albums, and playlists. There is no equalizer or song cognition. Visually, the music player looks sleek and you can use a jog dialler. 5.1 channel mock surround sound is present in headset mode. There is also an FM radio when you don't have your own music on your device to listen to. Audio quality is about average through headphones and the loudspeaker.

Samsung Wave M S7250 Camera and Image Quality

The 5MP camera has an LED flash which does an average job of illuminated the scene. There are features such as smile detection, Geo-tagging, and auto focus. Image quality is fairly sharp and has good details.

Video Camera and Video Quality

Videos record at 640x480 video at 30 fps. While the videos are watchable, it is not going to be like a video in HD 720p or 1080p.

Samsung Wave M S7250 Connectivity Options

Quad band support in 2G networks will get you connected to 850, 900, 180, and 1900 MHz bands. If there is a 3G network, you can connect to a 900 and 2100 MHz. To transfer files to another device you can choose between Bluetooth and microUSB options. To hop on to a faster data network, you can turn on the Wi-fi feature. The Wave M can also be used as a hotspot.

Google Maps and GPS

GPS support is available on the Wave M via Google Maps and Samsung's proprietary GPS.

Value for Money and Verdict

With a price tag of Rs. 11900 (approx., may vary), you will be spending money like you are buying a high end device. Call quality is adequate, with a lack of distortions in sound. The Wave M lacks a secondary mic port for noise cancellation, so in loud areas, the extra noises will be present. A 1350 mAh battery will lack roughly six hours and thirty minutes of talk time in 3G. For the price, you are getting a mediocre device at a high price. There are better devices in the same price category that should be looked at instead.
