Sony Xperia U is an Android Smartphone manufactured and launched by Sony Mobile at the World Mobile Congress 2012 held at Barcelona. It is the second Sony Smartphone after Sony acquired Sony Ericsson’s stake in January 2012. It is the next generation 3G smartphone that is bound to vow you with its sleek and futuristic design. The 3.5 inch Reality Display screen allows you to watch videos and movies in high quality and sharp display. With the power of the Mobile Bravia engine every moment on the screen seems like absolute magic. Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited applications allow users to download music and movies easily, although these applications are not available in all markets.

This Android phone runs on a dual core 1 GHz processor allowing you super fast browsing, download and streaming. It also has built in Google Mobile Services. With a 5 MP camera you can snap away with vibrant photos and shoot videos in full HD. Watching movies and listening to songs is not just that, it has become a full blown experience with the Xperia U using 3D surround sound. Other features include an 8 GB internal memory and 512 MB RAM. The phone is available in silver and black but the transparent bottom caps can change colors based on the photos or music you are listening to.

The Xperia U has a 3.5 in (88.9 mm) touch-screen powered with mobile BRAVIA engine which optimizes the picture. Dimension of the phone are 112 mm x 54 mm x 12 mm. Most of the Xperia U (almost 90%) front is display and the back is slightly curved for comfort. It has transparent strip with an illuminated light bar at the bottom, which glows while the user is viewing pictures or playing music by picking up the dominant color in the picture. It has exchangeable bottom caps below the illuminated strip. The bottom caps come with the 4 colors Pink, Black, White and Yellow.

Xperia U touch screen display is 3.5 inches with a resolution of 854X480 and at 280 ppi, it has highest pixel density in comparison to other smart phones released so far under this price tag. Multi-touch support of the phone is up to 4 fingers and features High Definition Reality Display with mobile BRAVIA engine from Sony. The phone is capable of displaying 16,777,216 colors. Phone weighs around 110 grams.

Sony Xperia U comes with five mega pixel rear camera along with autofocus and LED flash light. The camera is capable of recording videos at 720p high definition. Camera also has features like face and smile detection and geo-tagging. There is also a front camera of 0.7 Megapixel.

Sony Xperia U has 512 MB of RAM and an inbuilt memory of 8 GB out of which only 6 GB is accessible by the user. However the phone lacks the microSD slot and hence does not support extended storage. Phone supports a micro-USB connector with USB-OTG support.
