T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521 is a special variant of Lumia 520 which was created for T-Mobile US and was first released in April, 2013. It comes in a pack with a high efficiency charger AC-20, a Nokia charging and data cable CA-189CD, Nokia stereo headset WH-108, a printed material and a Li-Ion 1430mAh Nokia BL-5J battery with a 3G Stand-by time of up to 400 hours, a 2G and 3G Talk time of up to 8 hours and up to 9 hours respectively and a music playback time of up to 45 hours. It has a height of 124mm, a width of 64mm and a thickness of 9.9mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 124.5gms and runs on 2G(GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G(WCDMA 850/1900/1700-2100 MHz) networks but is also capable of 4G network. It is available in four shades which includes Black, White, Yellow and Red at a full retail price of US$126 with a lot of special plans and accessories.

T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521 has a 4.0-inch, capacitive and multi-touch, IPS LCD super sensitive touchscreen with a WVGA resolution of 480x800 pixels, brightness control, TrueColor display(24-bit/16M), 15:9 aspect ratio, 235ppi pixel density, Corning Gorilla Glass protection and some sensors such as accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, orientation, magnetometer and compass. It has a RAM of 512MB along with an internal memory of 8GB which can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card and also has a free 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage capacity.

It is a Windows Mobile Phone 8 OS based smartphone with a dual-core 1.0 GHz Krait processor, a Qualcomm MSM8227 Snapdragon S4 Plus chipset and an Adreno 305 GPU. It also has a lot of other features such as a 3.5mm audio connector, an organizer, Office apps, tethering, computer and OTA sync, voice memo/dials/commands, voice recording, active noise cancellation with a dedicated mic, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS, a loudspeaker, a document viewer/editor, a photo and video viewer/editor, remote security police enforcement, lost device tracking, user data encryption, Internet Explorer 10 browser, WP location sharing, Foursquare, HERE Maps, HERE Transit and HERE Drive +, Mobile calling, Nokia music, internet radio, T-Mobile TV, HAC(M3/T3) and TTY support and many more.

T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 521 has a 5.0MP rear camera with a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels, 4xdigital zoom, auto-focus, touch focus, auto and manual exposure, auto and manual white balance, geo-tagging, Bing vision, smart shoot lens, Panorama lens, cinemagraph lens and ISO control and can play as well as record videos of 720p@30fps with 4xvideo zoom, continuous auto-focus and video light. For messaging, it has got SMS, MMS, E-mail, Push E-mail, IM and integrated social networking sites with predictive text input. For connecting, it includes a GPRS and EDGE with a speed of 236.8kbps, a v3.0 Bluetooth with A2DP, WLAN feature with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi hotspot, a v2.0 microUSB port and 3G speeds of HSDPA 21.1Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps.
