Overview

Redmi's First 'Made in India' Smartphone

Xiaomi Redmi 2 is the company's first 'Made in India' smartphone. Redmi launched this handset in August, 2015 with reasonable price tag. The device has been manufactured by 'Foxconn' in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is an upgraded version of 'Redmi 2' which was released in January, 2015. Where the Redmi 2 supports 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB internal memory, this smartphone comes loaded with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Lets have a brief look at the review of this smartphone.

Display and Dimensions

It offers a 4.7-inch screen with a 1280x720 pixels HD IPS display that works out to a pixel density of 312 ppi. It supports a color depth of 16 million which shows a decent viewing angles. The multi-touch device's height is 134 mm, width is 67.2 mm and thickness is 9.4 mm. It carries a weight of 200 grams. It is being incorporated with ambient light sensor, accelerometer sensor, compass sensor, proximity sensor, gyro sensor and gravity sensor.

Processor and Operating System

It is driven by the Snapdragon 410 SoC, which involves a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 306 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside which performs a great role in multi-tasking and helps you to run different applications comfortably. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.

Storage and Camera

The Redmi 2 Prime has 16 GB of internal memory and also has a microSD slot, which can expand the phone's memory up to 32 GB. It comes equipped with an 8 MP rear camera that comes along with an LED flash light and also supports some features like digital zoom, geo-tagging, face detection, smile detection, HDR, panorama, 5-element lens, f/2.2 aperture etc. It's video resolution is 1080p@ 30fps. On the other hand, it also has 2MP front camera for selfie and video calls which supports a video resolution of 720p.

Connectivity and Battery

Connectivity wise, it offers dual SIM, Bluetooth, GPS, USB, EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G support. It packs a Li-Po 2200 mAh battery that claims to offer 14 hours of talktime.
