Karbonn Mobiles is an India based telecommunication firm which is a joint venture between the Jaina Group and UTL Group. Its Karbonn Kphone 1 is a basic featured phone that has packed some surprising features at a low price. Its box contents include a handset, battery, charger, user manual, earphone and warranty card.

Design and Display

The phone has been carved in a bar shape with curved edges that makes it easy to use and carry. Its front panel includes a screen, a square shaped D-pad that has two keys on its left and right sides and an alphanumeric keypad. Its back panel resembles an iphone. It is dual toned plain surface with a camera on the top left corner, a loudspeaker grill on the top right corner and the company's logo embossed at the bottom. Kphone1 has got a 2.4 inches IPS display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels. Its dimension figures includes a height of 116.3 mm, width of 50.2 mm and thickness of 11.5 mm along with a weight of 112 grams.

Hardware and Software

It works on the Proprietary Operating System and holds 32 MB Static RAM. It has the ability to store 1000 contacts, 500 SMS and 100 MMS in its memory. Its internal memory accounts to 128 MB which can be expanded up to 16 GB with a microSD slot. So you don't need to worry about the storage while downloading or transferring files to your phone,

Telephony and Messaging

It is a mini SIM phone that supports two GSM connections, but you can use only one network at a time. It works on the Dual band GSM 900 / 1800 MHz frequencies. For messaging, it supports SMS and MMS along with the T9 dictionary to help in typing accurately. For calling, it features call conference, speed dialing and black list.

Camera

For the clickers, it has a 1.3 MP camera at the back with Zoom and Flash facility that gives decent pictures in normal as well as dim light conditions. You can also record videos with its camera.

Entertainment

Coming to the entertainment front, it comes packed with quite a few goodies to keep you busy. It supports jpg, bmp and gif formats of image files, mp3, midi, wav and amr formats of audio files and 3GP, mpeg4 and avi formats for video files. User can set wallpapers, play embedded games, do voice recording or switch to FM radio in his / her leisure time. You can automatically search channels on FM and can store up to 30 channels. Along with that you can record your favorite track with FM and can store in the phone. User can set MP3 format ringtones on the phone or switch to the vibration mode if in a meeting.

Connectivity and Battery

On the connectivity part, the phone is GPRS and WAP enabled. It also has the Bluetooth, PC Sync and USB support to enable data transfer. It carries a Li-ion battery of 1400 mAh that claims a standby time up to 300 hours and talktime up to 6 hours.

Other Features

Apart from the basic features like alarm clock, organizer, calender, clock, world times, currency converter, stop watch, English and Hindi language support etc it comes loaded with other features like Anti theft feature, one touch music key, shortcut camera bar and the mobile tracker. Along with that user can keep his / her personal data confidential by using its data protection features.
