Sony officially announces SmartWatch 2

In Berlin, Sony has introduced second version of its Smartwatch dubbed as 'Sony Smartwatch 2'. It is going to give tough competition to the 'Galaxy Gear watch' which was introduced by the South Korean tech giant. Smartwatch 2 comes with a lot of changes in its feature and there is a modest upgradation than the predecessor. It is much slimmer and has bigger display than its previous model.

Sony Smartwatch 2 comes with a 1.6inch display screen along with resolution of 220 x 176 pixels, which is as compare to Samsung Galaxy Gear is low. It lacks a camera, while Samsung is offering 1.9MP camera to capture quality photos. Smartwatch 2 supports MicroUSB charging and it is designed with aluminum material. There is no speaker and microphone in this watch but it will be compatible with most of the Android smartphones with its Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC connectivity features. It also beats Samsung in providing better battery backup.

Sony Smartwatch 2 is a water and dust resistant device. It has IP57 which allow you to use it under 1 meter water depth for 30 minutes. It will be available to buy in the global market with multiple colors choices by the end of September 2013 and it is priced $266.
