Maxabout.comEditor ReviewSleek feature packed slider phoneMonday, November 05, 2007
Fly SL600 is a sleek, incredibly lightweight compact slider that, although feeling a little plasticky, is relatively well-built handset. The spring-assisted slider action is smooth with a soft glide. The keys and five-way pad are big and easy to use. Design of is well-built and fairly solid for the price and the interface is simple to use and looks like the Samsung. It comes with a 2 megapixel camera; you'll be able to snap images up to 1600 x 1200-pixels and this is fine for web use or sharing funny moments with friends. Not being a camera-focused device there is no focusing options, although to do get an LED flash light for dark situations. It also comes with with video recording support.
The built-in music player has all the trimmings, including Stereo Bluetooth support and an eight-band equaliser to boost the sound. It offers MP3 software and Stereo Bluetooth support so you can ditch the wires.
Sadly the music performance isn't great out of the box, however you can improve this by buying a better set of headphones. Also featured is an FM radio that lets users record live radio at the touch of a button or schedule a recording to start at a certain time. Recordings can be saved to the phone's internal memory or a microSD card.
Another neat touch is the wall charger lead that doubles as a USB cable so you can re-juice via a laptop. The only real grumble we have with the SL600 is that it only stretches to GPRS and not EDGE connections.
When you look at the features you’re getting for the money, the SL600 remains one of the sweetest bargains. And its all-round performance wasn’t a letdown either.
Fly SL600 is a true value for money with maximum of features you can get as compared to rival phones. The only major drawback is that it has a very weak battery that will need regular re-charging.
